Installation

Laying it right

  1. 01Mark the contourMark lines across the slope along the contour, at the spacing for your slope, plus the top, toe and every grade break.
  2. 02Cut a shallow trenchSet each roll in a shallow trench so water cannot run underneath it.
  3. 03Stake itDrive stakes through or beside the roll so it stays in firm contact with the ground.
  4. 04Turn the ends uphillTurn the ends slightly upslope so water cannot run around them, and clear trapped sediment as it builds up.

Questions

About Natural-fibre silt fence

How is a silt fence different from a wattle?

A wattle lies on the ground across a slope. A silt fence stands upright on stakes, usually around the edge of a site or a drain.

Why natural fibre?

It breaks down after use and avoids the wildlife entanglement risk documented for plastic netting.

What height do I need?

Height and length are agreed per project. Tell us the site perimeter and drain points.
