Woven coir geotextile · coir netting

700 GSM

The all-round weight for most erosion control. Half the ground stays open for plants, while the tighter weave and stronger yarn hold slopes as steep as 1:1.

  • Weight700 g/m²
  • Open areaabout 50%
  • Steepest slope1:1
  • Rolls2 / 3 / 4 m wide

Best for

  • Embankments and cut slopes up to 1:1
  • Road and rail cuttings
  • Moderate riverbanks and lake shores
  • Most general erosion control

Installation

Laying it right

  1. 01Prepare and seedGrade smooth and remove rocks and debris, which can lift the mesh. Seed before or after laying, except 900 GSM, which is seeded first.
  2. 02Anchor trenchesCut trenches about 30 cm deep and 15 cm wide at the top and ends. Pin the roll in the top trench, backfill and compact.
  3. 03Roll downhillUnroll in the direction water flows, loosely, so the mesh follows the ground. Overlap about 15 cm side to side and 20 cm end to end.
  4. 04Pin it downU-pins about 15 cm or J-hooks about 22 cm of 3 mm wire, or wooden pegs, about 50–75 cm apart and 30–50 cm along overlaps.

Questions

About 700 GSM

Is 700 GSM suitable for riverbanks?

For moderate banks with slow-moving water, often yes. Where water flows fast along the bank, 900 GSM gives more protection.

Is 700 GSM used under roads?

Yes. Indian practice uses woven coir of 700 to 1,000 GSM over weak subgrades. Road use is engineered, so follow the project design.

How much does a roll weigh?

The fabric weighs 0.7 kg per square metre, so a 2 × 50 m roll is about 70 kg before packing.
